Alice & Bob is developing the first universal, fault-tolerant quantum computer to solve the world’s hardest problems.
The quantum computer we envision building is based on a new kind of superconducting qubit: the Schrödinger cat qubit. In comparison to other superconducting platforms, cat qubits have the astonishing ability to implement quantum error correction autonomously!
We are at the forefront of the quantum race, competing with tech giants such as Google or IBM, and we are growing fast after securing €100 million of funding in 2025 to develop our unique technology.
Currently 100+ and counting, between physicists, PhD students, engineers and experienced business professionals, we are united to reach our ambitious goal. Are you a quantum pioneer? Join us on a mission to reshape the future!
Alice&Bob is developing a quantum computer based on cat qubits. While initially running nanofabrication processes in academic cleanrooms, Alice&Bob is stepping up by building its own prototyping cleanroom in Ile de France (construction started, start of operation beginning 2026). This facility will allow to: speed up the design iteration cycle, by reducing the leadtime of chip fabrication and improve the capability of Alice&Bob nanofabrication processes.
As part of the Quantum Hardware department, the “nanofabrication backend” team will play a pivotal role in operating and developing the “backend of line” used for manufacturing Alice&Bob Quantum Processor. Technically, this encompasses: room temperature electrical testing, dicing, wirebonding of chips inside sample holders
The team is in charge of operating the tools for the regular delivery of test chips
developing/improving new processes (for better quality/leadtime/chip selection…), overseeing its own tools (daily check of the tools, ensuring maintenance schedules are followed, 1 level of troubleshooting) and
selection, installation and qualification of new tools
As the Leader of nanofabrication backend Team, you will play a pivotal role in bringing into reality the QPU designs imagined by the company. Your leadership and expertise will directly contribute to our culture of technical excellence and innovation, shaping the future of quantum computing. For this, we are seeking an experienced engineer with a deep background in backend / electrical tests in semiconductor/superconductor processes to guide and inspire a talented team.
Responsibilities:
- Organize, plan and oversee the day-to-day operations
- Ensure that the requests of users are documented and complete
- Elaborate the planning of operation with the team
- Contribute to the tasks of warm-up/cool down cycle and cabling modification
- Establish with the team standard operating procedures
- Lead improvement actions (A3…)
- Process development: Plan and organize with the team the R&D tests for improving the process/recipes, keeping up with the latest technological progress. Ensure a close collaboration with the other teams in the company, and an alignment with the company strategy. This responsibility requires also to stay up-to-date on the state of the art (bibliography),
- Tools responsibility: Ensure that the tools under the team responsibility are maintained up and running (following preventive maintenance plan and managing corrective/troubleshooting when necessary). This includes the responsibility of training new users on the tool if necessary.
- New tools selection: Coordinate the definition of specification, the market analysis, the technical discussion, the validation, installation and qualification of the tools.
- Budget responsibility: Elaborate and drive the budget for the team
- Team Leadership & Supervision: Manage and inspire a team of engineers and technicians, fostering a collaborative environment that drives technical excellence. Define the profiles needed when necessary and drive with HR the hiring process. Provide mentorship and guidance, promoting professional growth and skill development within the team.
- Continuous Improvement: Drive ongoing improvements in the team (both at a technical and organizational level).
- Documentation & Reporting: Ensure standard operation procedures exist, and system configurations are thoroughly documented.
Requirements:
- A Master degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics, or a related field (PhD is a plus), with a focus on semiconductor or superconductor nanofabrication.
- Proven experience (5+ years) in backend or electrical test domain.
- Experience in management of a team
- Knowledge of chip manufacturing in the field of backend processing and electrical testing
- Experience in cleanroom
- Familiarity with backend tools, AOI, electrical tests
- Leadership and collaboration: a communicative and team-oriented approach
- Organizational skills, with planning ability (to coordinate tool usage and team schedule efficiently)
- English communication skills, both written and verbal
- Ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams
- A heightened awareness of quality, and a service orientated and independent, result-orientated approach to work
