Electronics Integration Engineer
Aubervilliers, France
Every quantum computer we build depends on getting the physical foundations right, and that’s where you come in.
As Alice & Bob scales up its quantum hardware, you’ll be the key link that brings instruments, cabling, and custom electronics together into reliable, compact, production-ready systems.
You’ll join the HERMES team, which builds the link between the lab and the quantum chip, and work hand in hand with physicists, RF engineers, and mechanical engineers. This is a hands-on, systems-level role: you’ll make sure everything fits, works, and can be scaled, repaired, and maintained as our installations grow.
Responsabilities
- Design and integrate robust electronics systems for our quantum computing set-ups, including custom PCBs, cryostat sub-parts, and the tooling needed to support implementation
- Integrate equipment into cryostats and systems, own cable harnessing across instruments, and drive the scale-up of installations
- Diagnose and repair electronic boards and equipment: understand why something failed, and decide whether to fix it in-house or send it back to the supplier
- Validate and verify commercial equipment, running tests to check that signals and performance meet our needs
- Source, evaluate, and negotiate with suppliers: assess whether they can deliver, push back when needed, and keep an eye on state-of-the-art instrumentation
- Work closely with physicists, RF, and mechanical engineers to define hardware architectures, and document your work along the way
Requirements
- Engineering degree (or equivalent) in Electronics, Electrical Engineering, or a related field
- 3+ years in electronics and system integration, with an electromechanical background in a complex, demanding environment (robotics, automotive, aerospace, satellites, medical devices, biotech, drones…)
- A system-level mindset: you’ve integrated electronics with mechanical constraints, such as thermal, size, and power budgets
- Hands-on experience with cable harnessing and system integration
- Real workshop skills: you’ve soldered, debugged, assembled, and repaired electronic or electromechanical systems
- Solid lab instrumentation skills: oscilloscopes and multimeters are part of your daily toolkit (VNAs and spectrum analyzers are a plus)
- PCB design experience (KiCad, Altium or similar). It’s part of the role, not the whole of it
- Exposure to RF systems (telecoms, radar, satellites, connected objects…). You understand RF concepts, but you don’t need to be an RF design expert
- Comfortable using Python (or another language) to automate tests and processes
- Supplier management skills, and strong communication with external partners and internal teams
- A resourceful, pragmatic mindset and a knack for inventing simpler, more scalable solutions
- A genuine curiosity for physics and science
- Proficient in English, French is a big plus
Nice to have
- Experience with cryogenic environments
- Experience with analog sensing, power budgets, or thermal management of large systems
- Knowledge of digital electronics or GPU integration
