Nanofabrication Test & Automation Intern M/F

Posted on Oct 22, 2026
Alice & Bob is developing the first universal, fault-tolerant quantum computer to solve the world’s hardest problems.
The quantum computer we envision building is based on a new kind of superconducting qubit: the Schrödinger cat qubit 🐈⬛. In comparison to other superconducting platforms, cat qubits have the astonishing ability to implement quantum error correction autonomously!
We're a diverse team of 250+ brilliant minds from over 35 countries united by a single goal: to revolutionise computing with a practical fault-tolerant quantum machine. Are you ready to take on unprecedented challenges and contribute to revolutionising technology? Join us, and let's shape the future of quantum computing together!
Purpose of the role
Every chip we fabricate has to be inspected and probed before it can contribute to our research, and today each diced chip is handled and aligned one by one. As our nanofabrication moves from 2-inch to 4-inch wafers, this step weighs more and more on test time. In this internship, you will design and test the tools and procedures that make chip alignment faster and more reliable, and you will help the nanofabrication team scale up.
This internship will start in January 2027 and last for 4 to 6 months!
Responsibilities:
- Propose and design solutions to pre-align diced chips before visual inspection and probing
- Source and procure the hardware tools needed for chip pre-alignment
- Learn and put to use the automatic alignment procedures of our visual inspection microscope and probe station
- Test the complete visual inspection and probe testing workflow, and check that alignment works correctly
- Verify that test data flows to the repository without errors, and improve the process where needed
- Write specifications and document your results
- Present your findings to the nanofabrication community at Alice & Bob
- Write or update the related Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
Requirements:
- Currently enrolled in a Licence Pro in Microtechnology, Test or Nanofabrication
- Available for a 4–5 month internship, ideally starting in January 2027
- Proficient in English
- Some knowledge of clean room environments and microfabrication (semiconductors, superconductors) is plus
Benefits:
- 1 day off per month
- Half of transportation cost coverage (as per French law)
- Meal vouchers with Swile, as well as access to a fully equipped and regularly stocked kitchen
