Director, Mission Engineering Group
A World-Changing Company
At Ethyca, we're engineering trust for humanity. We believe that by building Fides, the operating system for Data Privacy & AI Governance, we can solve the world's most critical and challenging problems of trust and safety in data and AI-driven enterprise — on behalf of every person. We partner with the most important institutions in the world to transform the safety, trust, and integrity of their data and technology systems. Our software has been used to power the safety and privacy of millions of users globally.
Role
You will lead Ethyca's Mission Engineering Group (MEG) — our embedded delivery team combining legal-grade precision with deep technical integration. Reporting to the CEO and working closely with product and engineering, you'll own the full mission lifecycle: from presales through the first 90-day deployment sprint, and through the ongoing continuity program (MEG-C) that ensures customers keep unlocking value as their data systems evolve.
MEG has two components you'll lead:
Embedded Delivery — Deployment Managers and Forward Deployed Engineers who provide comprehensive privacy engineering, program management, and technical expertise to ensure successful rollout for every client.
MEG Continuity (MEG-C) — Technical Account Managers who assume ongoing ownership post-mission, maintaining shared accountability for customer success over time.
This is a player-coach role. You'll build the systems that make delivery scalable and repeatable, while personally shaping strategy and outcomes for our most critical partners.
Responsibilities
Lead and scale MEG across both functions — Embedded Delivery and MEG-C — with clear KPIs for deployment velocity, customer health, and expansion.
Engineer the shortest path from deployment to provable value: own the 90-day mission model and ensure every engagement delivers measurable outcomes within that window.
Develop and implement standardized playbooks, processes, and handoff protocols — from initial engagement through MEG-C continuity — to improve repeatability and reduce time-to-value across all enterprise engagements.
Own executive-level relationships with client stakeholders, including C-suite sponsors, aligning technical delivery to business value at every stage.
Serve as the senior escalation point and strategic partner across ~12 ongoing complex deployments; ensure issues are resolved with urgency and care.
Act as a consultative solution partner during pre-sales and implementation phases, helping clients understand how Ethyca can address their privacy, governance, and compliance needs.
Collaborate cross-functionally with Sales, Product, Legal, and Engineering to surface client feedback and drive roadmap alignment.
Hire selectively and intentionally as the team scales, maintaining a high-performance bar across both delivery tracks.
What Success Looks Like (First 6–12 Months)
90%+ of new clients achieve a defined value milestone within the first 90 days
Embedded Delivery to MEG-C handoff is seamless: documented, repeatable, and adopted across all accounts
15% growth in client expansion revenue driven by MEG-C continuity
Executive sponsor relationships established at top 5 clients
Reduced deployment cycle time by 30%
Requirements
10+ years of experience in client delivery, forward deployment, technical program management, or solution consulting, with significant leadership responsibilities.
Proven success leading complex, global enterprise deployments in a fast-paced software or data infrastructure environment (e.g., privacy, security, cloud, AI, or data governance).
Experience building operational systems — playbooks, handoff protocols, KPIs — that enable scaling client delivery teams.
Demonstrated ability to manage high-performing cross-functional teams, ideally in startup or high-growth environments.
Executive presence: able to confidently navigate enterprise client conversations, including at the C-suite level.
Excellent project and stakeholder management skills with a bias for structured execution and clarity.
Working knowledge of data privacy laws (e.g., GDPR, CCPA), data infrastructure, or AI governance is a plus.
Bonus: Experience at companies with structured deployment models (e.g., Palantir, Stripe, Snowflake, Databricks, or similar).

Life at Ethyca
We want every Ethycan to achieve their best outcomes. That's why we celebrate individuals' strengths, skills, and interests — from your first interview to your long-term growth — rather than rely on traditional career ladders. Ethyca is a distributed team with headquarters in NYC and remote workers across the US. In keeping with Ethyca's values and culture, we believe employees "share the work" as one team, and in-person work affords the opportunity for more creative outcomes. We encourage our MEG team to work from our offices to foster excellence in innovation and outcomes for our clients. Preference will be given to candidates able to come into our midtown Manhattan office at least 2 days a week.
We're a Data Privacy and AI Governance company building a missing piece of the internet's infrastructure: the operating system for governance that empowers users and businesses to manage data respectfully. Every day, Ethycans tackle one of the world's most challenging problems — how to make data and AI-driven technology safer for humanity — and think about the future of human rights as society increasingly moves online. If that sounds like the work you want to do, we'd like to speak with you.
Ethyca is committed to promoting a culture of diversity, equity, and inclusion and is proud to be an Equal Employment Opportunity and Affirmative Action employer. We believe that all Ethycans share the responsibility of upholding our commitment to these values and encourage candidates from a wide range of backgrounds, perspectives, and lived experiences to join us in solving the world's hardest problems.
