Role Summary

The Client Delivery team at FINBOURNE works directly with our pre and post sales clients - ranging from start-up hedge funds and investment managers to large superannuation funds - to understand their business problems and help them make the best use of the opportunities offered by LUSID and Luminesce. The team also builds out client-specific capability and integrations, working hand-in-hand with client stakeholders.

We are hiring a Graduate Implementation Engineer to join our growing team in Australia. This is a launchpad role: from day one you'll be working alongside experienced engineers and some of the most sophisticated financial institutions in the market, learning to translate real business problems into working solutions on our platform. You'll learn to ship platform configurations and build directly on the codebase yourself - contributing changes at the edge to solve client problems quickly - as well as working with our Product and Engineering teams on larger feature requests.

Over time you'll grow into owning the full solution lifecycle and making genuine contributions to how clients interact with LUSID.

We don't expect you to know how to do all of this yet. We will train you, deeply and deliberately, in both the technical and the client-facing sides of the role. What we're looking for is the raw material: sharp thinking, real curiosity, strong communication, and the drive to take ownership of hard problems and see them through.

This role is based in Australia and involves occasional inter-state travel to visit clients. Our Product and Engineering teams are primarily based in London, so you'll be working across timezones, which sometimes means meetings in the early evenings in Australia.

Key Responsibilities

You'll start by learning alongside experienced colleagues and take on more as your skills develop. The role will grow to include:

  • Working directly with clients' project teams to support their implementation and delivery timelines
  • Explaining the product to clients, crafting solutions using LUSID, and delivering technical content, system configuration and training
  • Shipping platform configurations and contributing code directly to deliver client-specific capability and solve problems at the edge, while partnering with our London-based Product and Engineering teams on larger feature requests
  • Workshopping solutions and documenting requirements so our Product and Engineering teams can specify, build and test new functionality
  • Working with Delivery Managers to scope and estimate work and build coherent, deliverable implementation plans
  • Contributing to client deliverables and documentation

    Skills and Experience

This is an entry-level role, so we're hiring for potential and mindset over experience. You'll likely be a recent graduate keen to build a serious career in technical, client-facing delivery. Specifically:

      • A degree in an analytical or technical discipline (e.g. computer science, mathematics, engineering, finance, economics, or similar), or equivalent demonstrable aptitude.
      • Strong communication skills and genuine enthusiasm for working directly with clients to solve their problems.
      • Curiosity, rigour, and the drive to own a problem and see it through.
      • Some hands-on exposure to programming or data - through coursework, projects, internships or self-study. SQL and Python are especially relevant, but we care more about your ability and appetite to learn than about any specific prior experience.
      • The following are genuine pluses, but you'll learn all of them here, so don't be put off if they're new to you:
        • An interest in financial markets and investment products (e.g. FX Forwards, Options, Futures, Bonds, Swaps)
        • Familiarity with APIs (e.g. Postman, Swagger) or data formats such as JSON, CSV and XML
        • An understanding of software development principles
      • What matters most is that you're a strong cultural fit: collaborative, intellectually curious, and motivated to grow into the full responsibilities of an Implementation Engineer.

      Just some of our benefits

      • Competitive salary plus performance based bonus.
      • Hybrid: We have a mature attitude towards hybrid working. Whether you’re a night owl, morning person, parent, carer or simply need flexibility to work a different pattern to the norm, we’re committed to helping you be productive and work in a way that is best for you.
      • Professional learning and development: External training and accreditations are supported, as well as internal training and development programs.
      • Maternity, paternity and adoption leave: Paid maternity, paternity and adoption leave, which includes 13 weeks full pay for maternity and adoption leave and 6 weeks full pay for paternity leave
      • Holidays: 20 days holiday plus public holidays
