We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of Associate Director, Software Engineering

In This Role, You Will

  • Lead the design, development and deployment of applications on AWS using a combination of cloud-native, 3rd party, and on-premise technologies.
  • Lead migration of existing systems and platforms to Cloud-based technologies.
  • Service Ownership: Own the end-to-end lifecycle of AWS hosted applications, ensuring robust, secure, and compliant service delivery.
  • Operational Excellence: Monitor service level agreements (SLAs), key performance indicators (KPIs), and performance metrics for application on AWS platforms, working proactively to resolve any issues.
  • Incident & Problem Management: Oversee incident resolution and root cause analysis for AWS applications, ensuring swift resolution and implementing preventive measures.
  • Service Improvements: Lead initiatives to enhance system performance, reliability, and customer experience, including process automation and integration with emerging technologies.

To be successful in this role, you should meet the following requirements:

  • A minimum of 7 years of professional experience as an AWS Full Stack Engineer
  • Strong AWS expertise on components such as EC2, S3, Lambda, VPC, RDS, IAM, AWS Transfer family, CloudFormation, CloudWatch, Containerization (Docker/Kubernetes), Fargate, Docker, Mongo DB, ALB, Document DB and ECS tasks - preferably in the way that these components are pre-configured in HSBC as part of approved integration patterns
  • Extensive experience in troubleshooting issues in setup, network/firewall, security, and load balancing on AWS
  • At least 5 years of experience in programming languages, with a preference for Python, Java.
  • Proficiency in database management, including setting up databases in AWS cloud and developing database scripts.
  • Proven capability in managing complex IT services, including multiple stakeholders and vendors.
  • Proficiency in interfacing MQ and Sterling File Gateway on AWS
  • Experience with DevOps practices and tools, including CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and infrastructure as code (IaC) using tools like Terraform and Ansible
  • Strong backend engineering skills using Spring Boot, Microservices, and AWS.
